How the Desk works
What the Desk is
Diaspora Desk is a 24/7 wire of business and capital news across Africa, the Caribbean and the global Black diaspora, built by Black Executive Journal. It is designed for founders, investors, executives and policymakers who need one place to follow diaspora capital.
Where stories come from
Every story comes from an outlet approved by BEJ editors: global wires and business press, established regional business publications across Africa and the Caribbean, diaspora and community press, and official institutions. Anything from an unapproved source is discarded automatically. Each headline links to the original publisher.
How it's organised
The Desk checks its sources every 10 minutes. Each story is tagged by country, region, diaspora community and capital topic, and duplicate coverage is grouped so you see a story once with the number of outlets reporting it.
Company pages
The Desk tracks Black-owned, African and Caribbean companies, banks and funds. Each page combines coverage from approved outlets with SEC EDGAR filings, FINRA BrokerCheck and SEC investment adviser records. Only names confirmed by BEJ editors are published.
Not investment advice
The Desk reports what others have published and filed. It does not recommend any investment.
