How it is made
Every entry is confirmed by BEJ editors. Most come with a published source that establishes why they belong, such as a regulator's list of minority depository institutions, an industry association's list of Black-owned firms, a stock exchange listing or the institution's own mandate; where there is one, it is in the row. SEC and FINRA identifiers are matched to official records. The live filings and news on each company page are not part of this dataset; follow each entry's page for those.
